The police have reported that suspected bandits kidnapped two children from a shop on Wednesday night at the Federal University of Technology (FUT) business center in Minna, Niger State.

Wasiu Abiodun, the state police spokeswoman, stated that the police and a vigilante group had initiated a “active manhunt of the offenders.”

In connection with the incident, Mr Abiodun stated that one suspect was apprehended and arrested during a stop and search operation in Bakota village.

According to a witness, the gunmen invaded the business center outside the university campus on Wednesday night and grabbed food and other goods.

A FUT Minna student, only named as Barber, was reportedly killed in the raid, although the authorities have not confirmed the occurrence.

According to a local who declined to be identified for security concerns, the dead student went out at night to urinate when he was assaulted with a cutlass and died Wednesday morning as a result of his injuries.

Other witnesses said the gunmen arrived at the area and escaped through the bush surrounding the university.

Though the incident has created fear in the university community, the authorities of the institution are yet to comment on the incident.
