The Former President Muhammadu Buhari death news has been confirmed by his former aide, Bashir Ahmad, who announced the passing on social media platform X.

“The family of the former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London. May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus. Amin,” he wrote.
Buhari, aged 81, served as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023, following an earlier role as military head of state between 1983 and 1985.
He was widely recognised for his anti-corruption stance and his push to stabilise Nigeria’s struggling economy.
Born on 17 December 1942 in Daura, Katsina State, Buhari was the 23rd child of his father in a Fulani household. His legacy includes a rare distinction—ruling Nigeria both as a military leader and an elected civilian president.
Further information regarding burial arrangements will be released by the family in accordance with Islamic rites.
