In the viral materials, a voice said to be Akpoti-Uduaghan’s was heard accusing Senator Akpabio of blackmailing President Bola Tinubu to orchestrate her imprisonment.
However, the lawmaker has publicly disassociated herself from the content, calling it a “dangerous abuse of technology”.
In a statement released in Abuja and personally signed by the senator, she stated:
“I categorically and unequivocally dissociate myself from this video and audio recording. At no time did I grant such an interview or hold any such conversation with a journalist or anyone else.
The voice in the recording is not mine it has been cloned and manipulated with clear malicious intent.”
Akpoti-Uduaghan described the recordings as a “deliberate act of misinformation” designed to mislead Nigerians, smear her reputation, and destabilise the leadership of the National Assembly.
She also emphasised that her legal team and security agencies have been tasked with tracing the origin of the falsified materials.
The senator urged the public to remain cautious of orchestrated misinformation campaigns that aim to create political unrest.
“This is the work of desperate individuals intent on smearing the image of a law-abiding, peace-loving public servant,” she said.
