The 50-year-old woman, Mrs. Ifeoma Henrietta Ezewuike, a fashion designer and widow, was apprehended by operatives at a bus terminal in Jibowu, Yaba, Lagos, on Friday, August 22, 2025. Investigators say she planned to deliver the consignment to buyers in Abuja.
NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi revealed that a follow-up raid on her residence along Ago Palace Way, Okota, uncovered 200 grams of cutting agents used for processing cocaine.
In her statement, Ezewuike admitted inheriting the illicit trade from her late husband, despite running a fashion outfit, Golden Star Creation, for over 20 years.
The arrest forms part of a sweeping nationwide crackdown. In Lagos, officers intercepted 90 parcels of Loud cannabis weighing 48.6 kilograms, smuggled in cartons of imported kitchen sinks.
In Adamawa, a notorious dealer escaped by scaling a fence, but his associate was caught with hundreds of thousands of tramadol pills.
Similar powerfully coordinated operations in Kano, Abuja, Taraba, Edo, Delta, Ondo, and Ekiti yielded huge seizures of opioids, cannabis, codeine syrup, and pregabaline capsules, reinforcing NDLEA’s commitment to curb drug trafficking across Nigeria.
