NELFUND urges tertiary institutions to update and upload student records on its portal to ensure access to student loans for the 2025/2026 session

The call was made in a statement issued by the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, on Thursday in Abuja.
The appeal comes as NELFUND prepares to reopen its Student Verification Portal, which is a prerequisite for students to access federal education loans.
“Only students whose details have been uploaded and verified by their institutions will be eligible for the loan application,” the statement read, underlining the importance of immediate compliance by school authorities.
According to the Fund, this NELFUND student records update initiative is designed to avoid verification delays and ensure a smooth and inclusive loan application process.
Institutions have been advised to appoint appropriate officers to oversee the data upload in line with the technical guidelines shared by NELFUND.
“The cooperation of tertiary institutions is vital in ensuring no eligible student is left behind. Our goal remains expanding access to higher education through financial support,” Oluwatuyi noted.
The Fund also provided official communication channels for institutions needing support, including email, social media handles, and its website:

- X (formerly Twitter): @nelfund
- Instagram: @nelfund
- Facebook & LinkedIn: Nigerian Education Loan Fund – NELFUND
- Website: [www.nelf.gov.ng](http://www.nelf.gov.ng)
This development follows the recent closure of the 2024/2025 student loan portal and comes at a time when NELFUND is positioning itself as a transformative driver of educational access in Nigeria.
