[dropcap]N[/dropcap]igerian music icon, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has become the latest celebrity to react to the alleged killings in Yelwata, Benue State.

In a now trending video shared on Sunday, June 15, the singer, visibly struggling to find the right words, expressed profound sorrow and frustration over the deteriorating security situation in his home state.

2Baba, who was recently appointed as a Technical Adviser to the Benue State government, made the emotional appeal alongside his wife and lawmaker, Natasha Osawaru.
In an impassioned outburst, he urged stakeholders in Benue and nationwide to take immediate and serious action.
He unequivocally condemned the recurring cycles of violence, stating emphatically that mere condemnation is no longer sufficient.

The “African Queen” singer called upon both the government and citizens alike to unite and forge lasting solutions to the persistent crisis.
This urgent plea follows reports of an unprovoked attack on Yelewata on Friday night, June 13, by armed men suspected to be herders terrorising the state.
The alleged incident tragically claimed the lives of around 100 people.
In a related development, Pope Leo XIV reportedly condemned the killing of nearly 200 people in Yelwata, in the Guma local government area of Benue State.
The Pope described the fresh assault on the Benue community as a “terrible massacre” of individuals, many of whom are internally displaced persons.
