Niger State Police Command operatives have arrested two suspects for conspiracy and theft of a Toyota Corolla vehicle. The suspects, identified as Gwaza Bulus, 41, from Zango-Kataf, Kaduna State, and Yahaya Amodu, 45, from Kwakuti, Niger State, were apprehended while attempting to sell the stolen vehicle for N6.5 million in Minna.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, June 20, 2024. According to Abiodun, the suspects stole the vehicle during Juma’at Prayer at the Central Mosque area of Abuja.
“On 14/6/2024 at about 1840hrs, Police operatives attached to SCID, Minna arrested two suspects namely; Gwaza Bulus, 41 years, of Zango-Kataf, Kaduna State, and Yahaya Amodu, 45 years, of Kwakuti, Niger State,” the statement read. “The suspects were arrested at Sauka-Kahuta area of Minna with a white Toyota Corolla vehicle with Reg. No. ABC 72 NF suspected to be a stolen vehicle.”
During interrogation, Bulus revealed that he met an individual named Daniel in Area 3, Abuja, and they bonded over their shared Kaduna origins. Daniel introduced Bulus to another individual, Abdul, who offered Bulus a job involving the sale of a vehicle. Abdul provided Bulus with an imitation key and instructed him to take the vehicle from the Central Mosque area in Abuja during Juma’at Prayer.
Bulus successfully took the vehicle and brought it to Kwakuti, where he met Yahaya through social media, believing Yahaya could quickly sell the car. After some delay, Bulus returned to Yahaya on June 14th, and they decided to bring the vehicle to Minna for faster disposal.
The suspects were caught negotiating the sale of the vehicle without any documentation for N6.5 million in Minna. Both suspects are currently under investigation by SCID Minna, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the accomplice, Abdul. The case will be transferred to the FCT Command for further investigation and prosecution.
