In a significant victory for international efforts against cybercrime, Sunday Daniel Ganyo, a 37-year-old Nigerian national, has been extradited from South Africa to the United States to face justice for his involvement in a series of fraudulent spoof emails.
Ganyo’s extradition follows a joint operation by law enforcement agencies spanning two continents.
Believed to be a key player in an extensive cyberfraud syndicate, he was wanted by US authorities for orchestrating a sophisticated email scam that targeted unsuspecting individuals and organizations worldwide.
The complex scheme involved spoofing emails that Ganyo sent to a computer services company in Tulsa, USA, and deceitfully purchased a staggering $400,000 worth of Microsoft Surface Pro tablets.
