‘Nigeria @ 61’ Letter to Nigerians

On the 61st anniversary of Nigeria’s independence, Alhaji Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani, Chairman of the Northern Speakers Forum and Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, has urged Nigerians to unify as a nation, as they did before the country’s independence in 1960.

“Nigeria is a blessed land that is yet to reach its full potentials as a result of perceived differences,” Zailani said in a statement for Nigeria’s independence anniversary, which is celebrated annually on October 1st, and signed by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani.

“Let us come together as one and establish the country of our dreams,” he continued, “just as we did before our independence from Britain on October 1, 1960.”

He congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and all Nigerians on the country’s 57th Independence Day.

As Nigeria celebrates its 61st year of independence, he said it is an honor to be listed among the living.

Nigerians have faced difficult times, including a civil war, according to Zailani, but they resolve to remain united as brothers with a common destiny has kept them together.

He said, “We must savor these bonds that keep us together and work towards ensuring a peaceful, prosperous, and united Nigeria, which is the best legacy we can bequeath to our generations yet unborn.”

Zailani lamented that the country is going through its worst time in history, with marauding criminal gangs endangering the lives of citizens in almost every part of the country.

He tasked all Nigerians to be patriotic and pray for an end to insecurity and for Nigerians to experience peace in the country.
