A former Minister of Aviation and member of All Progressives Congress, Femi Fani-Kayode, has kicked against plans by the Northern APCP governors in country to go against the decision of the national chairman of the party to field a northern consensus candidate as the party flag-bearer.
Recall as a follow-up on their resolution to zone the All Progressives Congress Presidential ticket to the south, the governors have forwarded the names of five southern aspirants to the President Muhammadu Buhari for consideration as a consensus candidate. They are the Nigerian vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu, Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi; and Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State.
However, Fani-Kayode took to his microblogging handle on Twitter to frown against the decision, calling it unacceptable.
“It is NOT for the Northern Governors to singlehandedly ZONE or DETERMINE the Presidential candidate of our party. It is for the President, the Nat. Chairman, the NWC & the delegates to decide. A challenge to the authority of the Chairman & supremacy of the party is unacceptable,” he wrote.
