Ayo Durodola to receive NUJ’s Distinguished Media Ambassador award for contributions to journalism, communication, and cultural promotion
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Ondo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is set to honour prominent media practitioner and public servant, Ayo Durodola, with the prestigious Award of Excellence as the Distinguished Media Ambassador of the Year.

This recognition celebrates his remarkable contributions to journalism, effective communication, and cultural preservation.
Born in Benin City in the mid-70s to late Princess Veronica and Chief Tunde Durodola, Ayo Durodola’s illustrious career began in 1997 at the Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC).
Starting as an announcer, he quickly rose to become a presenter and producer, excelling in both radio and television.
Known for his skillful use of code-mixing to engage diverse audiences, Durodola has produced programmes for industry legends such as Yemi Sonde, Segun Babs, and Kola Olootu.
He draws inspiration from media greats like late Alhaji Abbas Akinwande, Ayo Omotosho, Soni Irabor, Larry King, and Walter Cronkite.
Over the years, Durodola has worked with renowned organisations, including Voice of Nigeria and Voice of America, while also consulting for various media outlets. His academic qualifications span journalism, mass communication, strategic planning, and multimedia.
Beyond his professional achievements, Durodola is a philanthropist dedicated to community development and mentorship.
He has sponsored nine award categories during Ondo NUJ Press Week celebrations for the past two years to honour mentors and veterans while encouraging emerging journalists.
In a statement by the NUJ Chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite, the union commended Durodola for his unwavering support for socio-economic development and his integrity within the journalism profession.
The award will be presented during the NUJ’s 2024 Press Week awards night on Friday, December 13, at the Press Centre in Alagbaka, Akure.
“We appreciate your support for societal development, especially for the less privileged,” the statement read. “Your track records as a philanthropist, media professional, and community development promoter have not gone unnoticed.”
