The group accused Abiodun of working for General Sani Abacha during the June 12 struggle, while Daniel reportedly supported Afenifere with financial and material aid.
They recalled that Daniel played a key role in reconciling warring OPC factions, which restored peace in the South West.
“Where was Dapo Abiodun during the June 12 struggle to now claim he’s a progressive?” asked Comrade Solomon Adegunle, chairman of the Progressive Alliance.
Highlighting Daniel’s political journey, the group noted how Bola Ahmed Tinubu once endorsed his move to the PDP after the Alliance for Democracy sidelined younger politicians.
In the PDP, Daniel was tagged “Afenifere PDP” for policies shaped by Obafemi Awolowo’s ideals, which earned him respect across Ogun.
The group alleged that Abiodun lacks the political pedigree to claim progressivism. “Abiodun is only tarnishing Otunba Daniel to distract from his administration’s recent scandals.
Ogun’s people are not deceived,” added the group’s secretary, Musefiu Oladimeji.

Analysts say the feud between Abiodun and Daniel could intensify political divisions ahead of the 2027 elections, with potential implications for the APC’s credibility in Ogun State.
