Ronke Okunade has officially assumed office as the new Commissioner of Police at the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) in Lagos, succeeding the retired CP Godwin Omodeinde
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) in Lagos has a new Commissioner of Police at its helm, with Ronke Okunade officially assuming her duties.

The appointment of CP Okunade as the 31st Commissioner of the Unit follows the recent retirement of CP Godwin Omodeinde on April 4th.
The confirmation of this new leadership came via a statement issued on Thursday in Lagos by the spokesperson for the PSFU, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ovie Ewhubare.
DSP Ewhubare stated, “PSFU is pleased to inform the public and all relevant stakeholders that CP Okunade formally took office on Wednesday, bringing her extensive experience to this crucial role.”
According to Freelanews, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police hails from Ogbomosho North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology obtained from the esteemed University of Ibadan.
CP Okunade’s career in law enforcement began in 1992 when she joined the Nigerian Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Following her initial training, she was posted to the police command in Ondo State for a mandatory one-year attachment period.
DSP Ewhubare highlighted the diverse and significant roles CP Okunade has held throughout her distinguished career within the Nigerian Police Force.
These include various postings as a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
Notably, she has served as the Commandant of the Provost Department at Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos. Her other roles include serving as 2ic (Second-in-Command) at Kawo Division, DPO of Apapa Division, and DPO of Apata Division, among other key assignments.
She also held the position of CSP Admin in Ondo State, acted as the Area Commander in Ebute Meta, and served as AC (Assistant Commissioner) Admin at the Lagos State Command.
CP Okunade’s career progression continued with her service as DCP Admin at FCID (Force Criminal Investigation Department) Annex Lagos and subsequently at the Cross River State Command.
Upon her well-deserved promotion to the rank of Commissioner of Police, she was appointed to head the General Investigation unit at FCID Annex, Lagos.
CP Okunade has further enhanced her professional capabilities through participation in numerous courses, both within Nigeria and internationally.
These include Citizenship and Leadership Training, Police Mobile Force Combat Training, the Intermediate Command Course, a Human Rights Course, and the Strategic Leadership and Command Course.
She has also successfully completed the Comprehensive Criminology Management Course and the Community Policing Course. Furthermore, she is a Fellow of the prestigious National Institute for Security Studies (NISS).
Upon her resumption of duty at the Police Special Fraud Unit, CP Okunade received a warm welcome from the officers and staff of the Unit.
In her initial remarks, she expressed her sincere gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for the trust and confidence placed in her with this appointment.
She assured all present of her unwavering dedication to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and strict adherence to all existing laws and regulations in the discharge of her duties.

The newly appointed Commissioner of Police also made a direct appeal to the public and all relevant stakeholders, urging them to provide their full support and cooperation to the Police Special Fraud Unit under her leadership, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling complex financial crimes.
