Ondo road construction gains approval as the state government okays 101km of projects to enhance commerce, mobility, and infrastructure
Ondo road construction has taken centre stage in the state’s renewed drive for infrastructure renewal, as the government approved 101 kilometres of new and rehabilitated roads across major communities.

Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Olawoye, disclosed this on Tuesday in Akure after the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
According to Olawoye, 66.4 kilometres will cover new road construction, while 34.6 kilometres will involve rehabilitation and reconstruction, marking a significant step in bridging infrastructure gaps and improving connectivity within Ondo State.
He explained that the approved Ondo road construction projects aim to ease vehicular movement, boost commerce, and open up local economies for development.
The commissioner added that the council also approved a 216-bed hostel for the National Youth Service Corps permanent orientation camp in Ikare-Akoko to improve corps members’ accommodation.
Further approvals include a two-storey headquarters building for the Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and Anti-Corruption Commission, alongside the renovation of key ministries such as the Hospital Management Board, Teaching Service Commission, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and the Ministry of Women Affairs.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, announced the appointment of three new traditional rulers, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance.
Speaking on the council’s resolutions, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Idowu Ajanaku, said the decisions reflect Governor Aiyedatiwa’s resolve to pursue projects that directly impact citizens’ lives.
“This government is focused on projects that touch lives directly. Governor Aiyedatiwa is determined to deliver visible results through massive infrastructure renewal,” Ajanaku said, describing the initiative as a powerful boost to the state’s developmental agenda.

He added that all approved projects would be closely monitored to ensure quality delivery and timely completion, consolidating the administration’s drive for sustainable progress through the ongoing Ondo road construction programme.
