OPay rewards digital safety champions with over N10m in prizes, celebrating Nigerians who showcased security features via #MyOPaySecurityVoteChallenge

OPay awarded the digital safety champions across Nigeria as it wraps up the first phase of its #MyOPaySecurityVoteChallenge, celebrating users who spotlighted the platform’s security tools in creative, viral ways.

The fintech firm hosted an awards presentation at its Lagos headquarters, where it handed out prizes to creators whose entries gained the most traction across Instagram, TikTok, X, and Facebook.

Among the winners was Udeng Bennet Etudo, whose TikTok video resonated widely, earning him the coveted ₦1 million grand prize.

“When I joined the challenge, I didn’t even think I’d won. Seeing my video go viral and then winning is unbelievable. OPay dey pay ooo,” he said with excitement.

Akindele Boluwatife, another standout winner, shared her strategy: “I won in the second week and by the third, I helped 15 others make their videos. Four of them also won! It’s good to see OPay keep to their word.”

The campaign, launched in August 2025, aimed to raise awareness about OPay’s seven security features including: Scam Alert, Night Guard, Large Transaction Shield, Subscription Control, USSD Lock, Double Check, and Emergency Lock.

“Our mission has always been to make financial services more inclusive through technology,” said Sunmola Oluwaseun Imade, Enterprise Marketing Manager at OPay. “But most importantly, we put our users first.”

Over 2,000 Nigerians have so far been rewarded with cash and branded merchandise, with OPay disbursing over ₦10 million in total.

The campaign continues to be hailed as one of Nigeria’s most impactful digital safety initiatives this year.

OPay’s clever mix of community engagement and financial literacy has not only driven app engagement but also strengthened user trust—a key asset in Nigeria’s fast-evolving digital payment space.
