Pastor Abel Damina, the founder of Power City International Ministry, has openly refuted allegations of jealousy towards Pastor Jerry Eze, the leader of Streams of Joy International Ministry.
Damina, who is well-known for his outspoken criticism of the teachings of many Nigerian pastors, addressed the issue during a teaser for the Honest Bunch Podcast shared on social media on Sunday. The full interview is scheduled for release today, Monday, 19th August 2024, in the evening.
In the podcast, Damina disputed the authenticity of a recent miracle in London, which took place at a conference hosted by Pastor Eze. The event, which saw an eight-year-old girl suffering from cerebral palsy reportedly healed, has drawn significant attention. However, Damina expressed skepticism, particularly targeting the slogan, “What God cannot do does not exist,” which has been popularised by Eze. He argued that this statement is misleading and suggested that many of the miracles performed were staged.
“’What God cannot do does not exist’ is not the truth,” Damina asserted. “Most people think I’m jealous of Jerry Eze, but that is not the truth. Jerry Eze is my junior in ministry. I believe in miracles, I believe in healings, but not all these arranged miracles we are seeing today.”
Damina also raised questions about the credibility of the props used during the healing sessions, particularly the crutches paraded by attendees. He pointed out that the crutches were brand new and identical in colour, suggesting that they were not genuine. “In what world will people come for a crusade and all of them are carrying the same brand of crutches and also the same colour?” Damina queried.
Additionally, Pastor Damina addressed the issue of tithing, stating that it was inappropriate for pastors to request tithes from their congregations. He urged fellow pastors to return to their vocational jobs, noting that all of Jesus Christ’s disciples had professions.
