Residents allege that Anegbe had initially sought to convert the road into private property through Navy intervention, but the plan failed, forcing him to involve the Police in an attempt to achieve his goal.
Eyewitnesses said the IDL Ota figure attempted to manipulate law enforcement, decoying officers to follow his instructions after failing with the Navy strategy.
The incident has raised concerns about abuse of authority and attempts to appropriate communal assets for personal benefit, prompting calls for stricter oversight by both the Nigerian Navy and Police in local disputes.
