The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for selecting an allegedly ethically challenged former Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, as its National Chairman.
According to a statement seen by Freelanews and signed by the opposition party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the APC’s choice of Dr. Ganduje as its National Chairman, despite the corruption and bribery allegations against him in the public domain, further confirms that the APC is a hotbed of corruption and a refuge for thieves, bribe takers, and treasury looters.
By appointing Ganduje, who is infamously referred to as “Gandola” by Nigerians due to the viral video of him blatantly stuffing his gown with US Dollar notes as a bribe allegedly from a contractor while serving as Governor of Kano State, the APC further validates that it is a corrupt party of embezzlers and fraudsters.
It also highlights the APC’s disregard for the demands of honesty, integrity, and moral rectitude expected of public office holders.
The PDP urged Nigerians to take note that just last month, a forensic analysis by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) confirmed that the content of the 2017 “Gandollar” viral video was not manipulated.
It speaks volumes about the APC under Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu that Ganduje, who should be facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged bribery, is instead rewarded with the position of APC National Chairman.
Such a situation can only occur in a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) like the APC, which, according to the former Director General of Progressive Governors’ Forum, is filled with “political bandits.”
In any case, the PDP describes the assertion by the embattled APC National Chairman that he will “hit the ground running” to ensure the victory of his failing party and disillusioned members in the upcoming governorship elections in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa as a pathetic daydream.
The PDP reminded Ganduje of how he was humiliated by Nigerians and failed miserably as co-chairman of the APC National Campaign Council for the July 2022 Osun State Governorship election, which was overwhelmingly won by the PDP.
Indeed, a worse crushing defeat awaits Ganduje and his party, the APC, in the November 11, 2023 Governorship elections in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo States.
Furthermore, the humiliating defeat of the APC in Kano State under his leadership as Governor in the 2023 general elections shows that Ganduje has no political influence and cannot achieve victory in any electoral contest in the country.
If Ganduje truly wants to “hit the ground running” as he claims, he should approach the EFCC for investigation and prosecution regarding the alleged bribery and corruption cases surrounding him.
