Primate Ayodele’s prophecy about the sacking of Mele Kyari by President Tinubu has come to pass, highlighting the consequences of pride and disobedience
[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n a dramatic turn of events, the prophecy of Primate Ayodele, the renowned Nigerian prophet, regarding the sacking of Mele Kyari, the former Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), has been fulfilled.

In August 2024, Primate Ayodele publicly called for the removal of Kyari, warning that if the President did not act promptly, Nigeria’s already troubled oil sector would descend into further chaos.
His words, delivered in a widely circulated video, sent ripples through the political and corporate circles, warning that failure to remove the NNPCL boss would lead to public protests that could destabilise the government.
Primate Ayodele’s exact words were: *“One of the major important things Tinubu should do if he wants to see the prayers of Nigerians answered, he should sack the GMD of the NNPC.
If it is possible, he should be sacked before the end of this month; otherwise, another big protest is coming. This protest can sack Tinubu and can make Tinubu’s government ungovernable.”*
Despite his warnings, the camp of Mele Kyari retaliated vehemently, launching a smear campaign against the prophet.
They accused Primate Ayodele of making false prophecies, labelled him as an associate of oil bunkering syndicates, and distorted his past predictions to undermine his credibility.
In the face of such attacks, Primate Ayodele remained undeterred, continuing to insist that the sack of Kyari was in Nigeria’s best interest.
In his steadfastness, Primate Ayodele held his ground, emphasizing that his call for Kyari’s removal was not a personal vendetta but rather a divine message to ensure the health of Nigeria’s oil sector.
Despite relentless criticism, including threats from Kyari’s camp to silence him, Primate Ayodele maintained that he was simply doing his duty as a prophetic voice for Nigeria.
Months after the initial warning, President Bola Tinubu has now followed through with the prophet’s advice, dismissing Mele Kyari and the entire leadership of NNPCL, with immediate replacements announced.
This move has not only validated Primate Ayodele’s prophecy but also exposed the folly of those who disregarded his counsel.
One of the most telling reflections on this situation comes from Olabode, a supporter of the sacked NNPCL boss. He expressed a poignant observation: “Primate Ayodele may have taken sides in the ongoing misunderstanding in the nation’s hydrocarbon community.
Using his platform to rally support for the oil cabal, he sends message to the President, who was not visible in his vision in 2023. Fortunately, President Tinubu knows Primate Ayodele better than Kyari.”
Indeed, the boastful assertions from Kyari’s camp that President Tinubu would not heed Primate Ayodele’s warnings have fallen flat.
The very people who attempted to discredit the prophet now find themselves facing a stark reality – Mele Kyari is no longer in office, and the once-dominant figures in the oil sector are now under increasing scrutiny.
The fall of Mele Kyari serves as a powerful reminder of the danger of pride and arrogance in leadership. As the prophet’s words ring true, the message is clear:
“He who laughs last laughs longest.” In this case, it is Primate Ayodele who has emerged as a prophetic voice of reason, while Kyari’s legacy has been tarnished by his inability to heed the warnings.
As the dust settles, many will look back on this moment as a reminder that those who ignore prophetic guidance may ultimately face the consequences of their actions.
