Rabiu Kwankwaso’s defection rumors denied by NNPP, blaming AI-fueled fake news for misleading reports about alliance with APC and Tinubu
Rabiu Kwankwaso’s defection claims have been forcefully debunked by the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), labeling the speculations as baseless and AI-fueled misinformation.

Prince Nweze Onu, NNPP’s National Vice Chairman (South-East), stated during a press briefing that reports suggesting Kwankwaso is moving to the All Progressives Congress (APC) are nothing more than “social media fabrications.”
He emphasized the growing role of artificial intelligence in spreading false narratives, especially in political discourse.
“The use of AI and social media tools makes it easy for people to spin stories. This is dangerous,” Onu warned.
Kwankwaso’s recent visit to the Presidential Villa, Onu clarified, was for an official programme and not a political defection deal.
“He didn’t go there to negotiate. It was a coincidental appearance,” he said.
Despite Kwankwaso’s cryptic remark about potentially working with President Tinubu, NNPP insists he remains loyal to the party and is preparing for another presidential run in 2027.
“Why not? He’s eligible and capable,” Onu declared confidently.
The party claims the APC is reacting out of desperation, pushing exaggerated narratives to distract the public. “They’re panicking because of his influence,” Onu added.
