A heartbroken friend of Thomas Segun, a Nigerian but resident of New Brunswick, United States of America since 1981, has announced the death of Chairman, as he was fondly called.
Segun was fatally stabbing a neighbour, officials said.
Having been charged to court, the accused, Noel Rosado, 34, is accused of stabbing Thomas Segun, 62, of Somerset, to death Saturday night in the hallway of the multi-use building where the two men lived, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s office said.
In addition to murder, Rosado is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and tampering with evidence.
Police did not provide a possible motive for the killing.
Rosado is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Centre ahead of a detention hearing.
Segun, believed to be a complete gentleman, was a graduate of Rutgers University for his first degree and had worked for several Fortune 500 companies before starting his own accounting and tax firm, Segun Thomas & Co.
