In light of the growing tension and uncertainties surrounding planned nationwide protests, Pastor (Dr) Wole Oladiyun, a respected thought leader and Senior Pastor of Christ Livingspring Apostolic Ministry (CLAM) in Lagos, has emphasized the joint responsibility of both the government and citizens in addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
During a recent Sunday service in Lagos, Pastor Oladiyun urged Nigerians to work together with the government to fix the nation, noting that it takes time to rebuild a system that has been struggling for years. Speaking on the theme, “Revamping Food Security in Nigeria through the Local Government Model,” he advocated for a strategic partnership involving the Federal Government, the African Development Bank (AfDB), and Nigeria’s 774 Local Government Areas to implement a large-scale food production initiative.
Pastor Oladiyun, who is also a large-scale farmer, highlighted the need for the deliberate allocation of land in each local government for farming. He proposed that agricultural assessments be conducted across all 774 LGAs to determine the best crops for each region.
The collaboration he envisions would include a strong legal framework, funding, monitoring, and evaluation through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV). Additionally, it would involve providing agricultural training for youths, enhancing community-based security, and engaging specialized agricultural institutions like the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN).
Pastor Oladiyun urged both national and sub-national governments to approach the food security project with intention, sincerity, and consistency, describing it as the most effective way to resolve Nigeria’s economic challenges.
He reminded Nigerians of his earlier call, over five years ago, for a return to farming, which he said is key to the country’s prosperity. Assuring the congregation that God is working to fix Nigeria, Pastor Oladiyun appealed for patience and understanding, acknowledging that the nation’s long-standing issues cannot be resolved overnight.
