Rewind Flashback Concert reunites Cynthia Morgan, 9ice and Sir Shina Peters in Lagos for an emotional night of Nigerian music nostalgia

Veteran disc jockey Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, professionally known as DJ Jimmy Jatt, on Friday led leading Nigerian artistes in staging the Rewind Flashback Concert, an event that reunited fans with defining sounds from different eras of the country’s music industry.

The Rewind Flashback Concert, organised by DJ Jimmy Jatt in collaboration with Yaw Naija, brought together established stars and emerging talents under the theme The Legends Are Back, drawing a large audience eager to relive classic moments in Nigerian music.

One of the most emotional highlights of the night was the return of singer Cynthia Morgan to a major concert stage.

The artiste, who has remained largely absent from the mainstream music scene in recent years, received a warm reception as fans sang along to her songs, sparking loud cheers across the hall and marking a powerful comeback moment.

Abolore Akande, popularly known as 9ice, followed with a performance packed with familiar hits that once dominated radio and street playlists nationwide.

His set drew energetic reactions from the crowd, many of whom waved their phones and chorused lyrics that have retained their appeal over the years.

Veteran musician Sir Shina Peters added a classic touch to the event, performing timeless songs that helped shape Nigeria’s contemporary music culture.

His appearance attracted sustained applause, reinforcing his lasting influence across generations of listeners.

Beyond the headline acts, the organisers created space for rising artistes, including Neo Phlames and Tiwye, to perform alongside industry veterans.

Their inclusion provided fresh energy and underscored the continuity of Nigeria’s evolving music landscape.

Throughout the night, DJ Jimmy Jatt anchored the concert with carefully selected throwback records, seamlessly linking performances and keeping the audience engaged from start to finish.

Many attendees described the Rewind Flashback Concert as more than a live music event, noting that it felt like a celebration of shared memories and a testament to the growth and resilience of the Nigerian music industry.
