Launched in 2020, Rite-On-The-Beach is a points-based, community-driven program designed to tackle plastic pollution while delivering tangible social value to underserved coastal communities in Lagos State.
The initiative combines beach clean-ups, environmental education, advocacy, and community collaboration to promote responsible waste management.
Mr. Ekuma Eze, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Rite Foods Limited, highlighted the holistic approach of the program. “At Rite Foods, sustainability goes beyond environmental responsibility; it is about creating shared value for people, communities, and future generations. The renewal of our partnership with POP Beach Club allows us to integrate environmental action with education, youth empowerment, and community development in a practical and measurable way.”
The program also supports learning continuity for children by exchanging recovered plastic waste for school supplies, while engaging young people as environmental advocates through structured clean-ups and plastic recovery activities. In 2025, the Plastic Free July campaign under the initiative led to the recovery of over 40 tonnes of plastic in Lagos alone.
Mr. Akin Disu, Convener and CEO of POP Beach Club, praised the collaboration. “Our partnership with Rite Foods has shown that environmental action can be impactful, visible, and community-driven. We are committed to deepening the impact and continue to use our space as a platform for social change.”
Rite-On-The-Beach demonstrates how purposeful partnerships can turn isolated environmental efforts into sustained, community-driven action, fostering cleaner beaches, reduced marine pollution, and a healthier ecosystem.
Rite Foods Limited remains committed to delivering innovative products while driving sustainable development through responsible business practices and community-focused initiatives.
