The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested three members of a gang of armed robbers said to be terrorising residents of Iroko/Arije, in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.

Those arrested are Abayomi Micheal David, also known as Scofield, aged 37, residing at 33, Unity Road, Abule Ijoko; Sam Oluwatobi, aged 24, resident of 24, Blessed Estate, Alayapupo Street, off Oyero Road, Ijoko; and Oluwatosin Atilola, also known as Tosine, aged 37, residing at 168, Nascon Road, Ijoko Ota.

This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Office of the State Commander of the Corps, Soji Ganzallo, through the Office of the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf.

The suspects were said to have been arrested on April 16, 2024, after the operatives of the So Safe officers from Iroko/Arije Divisional Headquarters responded to the distress call from the community.

The members of the community had reportedly raised alarm about some daredevil armed robbers terrorising the residents and robbing them of their phones and other valuable items at gunpoint.

“Acting on this information from the citizens, the Ado Odo Ota Zonal Commander of the Corps, ACC Tajudeen Odunmbaku, gave the officers the mandate to clamp down on the crime suspects.

“The operation team of the Corps swung into action and successfully apprehended three out of the four suspected armed robbers,” the statement read in part.

Ganzallo, according to the statement, revealed that the fourth suspect, Obani Desmond, also known as Kokolet, who remains at large is not new in the act.

He equally said that the suspects, during preliminary interrogation, allegedly confirmed Desmond to be their ringleader and that efforts are ongoing to bring him to justice.

Ganzallo noted that the exhibits recovered from the apprehended suspects include two pieces of empty and one live red star cartridge, one locally-made stainless cut-to-size pistol, and one motorbike.

He added that the suspects and the recovered exhibits have been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Sango Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and prosecution.
