[dropcap]F[/dropcap]ormer Federal Commissioner for Information and respected South-South leader, Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, has passed away at the age of 97.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by Prof. C. C. Clark on behalf of the family.
“The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce the passing of Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark OFR, CON on Monday, 17 February 2025.
The family appreciates your prayers at this time. Other details will be announced later by the family,” the statement read.
Clark, a revered statesman and leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), was a vocal advocate for the rights and development of the Niger Delta region.
Over the years, he played a crucial role in shaping political discourse in Nigeria, particularly on issues of resource control, federalism, and regional development.
His passing comes shortly after the death of Afenifere leader Ayo Adebanjo, who also died at 96, marking a period of loss for Nigeria’s elder statesmen.
