One person was feared killed during a robbery at the Stadium Hotel on Sunday night in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

According to a witness, a middle-aged man said to be a customer at the hotel located along Sultan Road was feared killed in the robbery.

Responding over the incident, spokesperson of the state police command, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, however, said no life was lost.

SP Okasanmi said the command had begun an investigation into the robbery, promising that the suspects would soon be apprehended.

He further said three persons, who included the manager of the hotel, barman and one other person, were shot by the robbers and that they sustained serious injuries and were being treated in an undisclosed hospital in the metropolis.

However, another witness said, “The robbers, numbering five and wearing black dresses, stormed the hotel at around 09:40pm on Sunday night. They were shooting sporadically as we ran to safety.

“They ransacked everywhere while snatching phones, money, among other valuables from customers. We hid in the toilet. When we came out after the robbery, we met the body of a middle-aged man, and the manager in a pool of blood. He was immediately rushed to the Ilorin General Hospital.”
