According to Asemota, a decade ago, his life was hanging in the balance when a bathroom door at the Radisson Blu Anchorage hotel in Lagos suddenly broke, causing severe injury to his leg.
Recalling the incident, Asemota revealed that he narrowly escaped with his life but suffered a limp and the inability to fully bend his leg due to the accident.
In a candid account shared on his X handle, Asemota emphasized the gravity of the situation, expressing gratitude for escaping with his life.
He, however, lamented the lack of proper emergency services at the hotel, highlighting the absence of an ambulance or immediate medical assistance.
Asemota further recounted the challenges he faced in seeking medical attention, revealing that he had to rely on his own resources to secure treatment at Redington Hospital.
The tech guru noted the hotel staff’s conspicuous absence and lack of assistance when confronted with the urgent need for medical attention.
Driven by his traumatic experience, Asemota announced plans to raise awareness about the state of emergency services in Nigeria through a Twitter Space discussion.
He emphasized the critical importance of accessible and efficient emergency services, noting that many lives are at risk due to the prevailing deficiencies in Nigeria’s healthcare infrastructure.
