The former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha has thrown his hats into the ring and all is set to compete for the chance to lead the most populous nation in Africa, Nigeria, come 2023.
Recall that former governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, had made this known in a letter read at plenary by the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, last Wednesday, where he also revealed that he will on Monday, January 31, 2022, address a world press conference to speak more on his ambition.
In the highlight of speech given at the International Conference Center, Abuja, during the press conference, Okorocha stated that he has always been in politics for what he can give.
The help has come!
I’m not in politics for what I can get but in politics for what I can give.
I’m not satisfied with the situation in the country. There might be facts under statistics and data that the situation is bad in many sectors, but Nigeria is mightier than that. Nigeria is a great nation. It will rise again. The new Nigeria is possible.
Education is life. The New Nigeria will declare free education from primary to secondary school. I’ve done it before under the Rochas Okorocha foundation
We shall emphasize production. Work must be compulsory. Problem is not that we are poor but problem is to manage resources we have.
Our business shall be of development and progress. We shall develop resources in our land.
We are here to help the poor and the needy and the down trodden.
There’s no part of this country or zone you will not see my signature.
I challenge all those contesting with me to show this country what th y have done in uniting this country.
The mood of the nation suggests this nation requires an compassionate leader. I have six children but I have over twenty five thousand children. I have adopted rgem, I don’t know them. I’ve trained more that six thousand Fulani, Six thousand Yoruba and Ten thousand Igbos. What unites me and them is poverty cos I am from a poor background.
This nation is in dire need of someone who can create wealth, someone who has a vision, amount of money far too small for the problem, don’t curse your leaders, the problem is for every one million naira, Nigeria needs ten thousand naira. What Nigeria needs is a businessman who can create wealth. I will create wealth.
Where poverty persists, ethnicity thrives.
Born 22 September 1962, Okorocha is a Nigerian politician of Igbo extraction from Imo State and the Senator representing Imo West Senatorial district at the 9th Nigerian Senate.
