‘The merging’ Unilever unifies UK, Dutch arms to form single parent company

Unilever has announced that it has completed the unification of the British arm and the Dutch arm of its corporations under a single parent company, Unilever PLC.

Under this new arrangement, “The headquarters of Unilever’s Foods & Refreshment Division will continue to be based in Rotterdam and the Home Care and Beauty & Personal Care Divisions will continue to be headquartered in the United Kingdom.”

With Brexit and second wave of pandemic looming a, Unilever has assured that; “There will be no change to the operations, locations, activities or staffing levels in either The Netherlands or the United Kingdom as a result of Unification.”

Upon the announcement, Chairman of Unilever, Nils Andersen, commended shareholders for rendering the much needed assistance for the actualisation of the unification and expressed his belief that it will help grease managerial wheel of the company.

In his words: “This is an important day for Unilever and we would like to thank our shareholders for their strong support of our Unification proposals, which give us greater flexibility for strategic portfolio change, remove complexity and further improve governance.”

Unilever started as a soap trading with the name Lever Brothers (West Africa) Ltdin 1923 in Nigeria by Robert Hesketh Leverhulme and was renamed West African Soap Company a year after. Its popular products in Nigeria include OMO Multi-Active Detergent, close-up, Life buoy, Rexona, Knorr bouillion cubes, Blue Band Margarine, Lipton Yellow Label Tea and so on.
