President Bola Tinubu

President Tinubu condemns killings in Borno, Plateau, and Kano, orders urgent response, and vows justice for victims and peace nationwide

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]resident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound outrage and sorrow over the string of violent incidents that have claimed innocent lives across Nigeria in recent days.

In a statement issued from the Presidential Villa, Tinubu addressed the tragic suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State; the brutal lynching of 12 travellers in Plateau State; and the fatal explosion at a scrap site in Kano.

“These atrocities are an affront to our humanity and dignity,” he said. “We must stand united to resist fear and bring those responsible to justice.”

The President described the bombing in Borno, which killed several civilians, as a “cowardly act of terror” and assured affected communities of federal government support.

He directed the National Emergency Management Agency to swiftly provide medical and humanitarian assistance to survivors.

He also charged security forces to intensify operations and dismantle any remaining terror cells, particularly Boko Haram, stating that targeting defenceless citizens will not go unpunished.

Turning to Plateau State, Tinubu decried the murder of wedding guests returning from a joyful ceremony as “barbaric and senseless.”

These atrocities are an affront to our humanity and dignity, we must stand united to resist fear and bring those responsible to justice.

He has tasked the Nigerian Police and relevant security agencies with launching a full investigation and ensuring the swift arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators.

“The rights of Nigerians to move freely without fear must never be compromised,” the President asserted. “We shall not allow our people to be held hostage by violence.”

In addition, Tinubu extended his condolences to families affected by the Kano explosion, which claimed five lives.

He called for a comprehensive investigation and stressed the importance of workplace safety, urging regulatory bodies to enforce existing safety protocols to avoid further loss of life.

The President emphasised that violence must never be normalised in any part of the country. He called on state governments to work in concert with federal agencies to address insecurity at its roots.

“To the people of Borno, Plateau, Kano, and Kaduna States — I share in your grief, and I stand with you,” Tinubu said. “We will not rest until every Nigerian feels safe again.”

He concluded with a prayer for the departed and a firm assurance that the government remains resolute in defending the lives and freedoms of all Nigerians.
