Tinubu congratulates Biodun Otunola on his appointment as Mexico’s Honorary Consul in Lagos, praising his work in infrastructure and diplomacy
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President lauded the civil engineer and transport planner for his significant role in delivering landmark transport infrastructure across Lagos, Abuja, and Enugu.

He further applauded Otunola’s commitment to strengthening ties between Nigeria and Mexico.
“President Tinubu encourages the engineer to leverage the recognition to enhance relations between Nigeria and Mexico, particularly in trade and investment, allowing citizens to reap long-term benefits,” the statement noted.
The President also pledged his support for Otunola in extending his professional and diplomatic reach beyond Nigeria to other African countries and the wider global stage.
Otunola, who is the Managing Director of Planet Projects Limited, received the appointment during Mexico’s 215th Independence Day celebration held in Abuja on Monday, 15 September 2025.
As Honorary Consul, he will serve as a key diplomatic representative, tasked with advancing bilateral cooperation in commerce, culture, and investment.

His role will also involve promoting Mexico’s interests in Lagos and fostering stronger people-to-people connections between the two nations.
