President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Abuja on Monday after a schedule packed with high-level meetings and project commissions.
According to a statement by Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga, the President’s visit began on September 26 following his attendance at the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.
While in Lagos, President Tinubu met with top business leaders including Bayo Ogunlesi, CEO of Global Infrastructure Partners, and Hakeem Belo-Osagie, former UBA Chairman and now head of Metis Capital Partners.
Talks centred on reviving investor confidence and unlocking new private-sector opportunities across Nigeria’s economy.
Also on his itinerary was a strategic meeting with IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez, alongside Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the maritime sector into a reliable alternative revenue source, positioning it as a pillar of Nigeria’s post-oil economic agenda.
During the visit, the President commissioned the newly refurbished National Theatre, now renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, as part of his government’s push to revitalise Nigeria’s creative economy.
Ahead of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day, Tinubu travelled briefly to Imo State to inaugurate infrastructure projects under Governor Hope Uzodimma and unveil a book chronicling a decade of APC governance.
His Independence Day broadcast was delivered from Dodan Barracks, where he urged unity, optimism, and patriotic speech among Nigerians.
In a show of interfaith solidarity, President Tinubu later visited Jos, Plateau State on October 4 to attend the funeral of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, the mother of APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.
He used the moment to reassure Christian communities of his administration’s commitment to fairness and equity.
