Lagos Ibadan Expressway Traffic

A trailer accident in the early hours of Friday has caused a complete standstill of traffic on the outward lane of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway from Berger, Lagos State, with the resulting gridlock extending to the Old Toll Gate

[dropcap]C[/dropcap]ommuters and motorists heading out of Lagos State on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway are currently experiencing severe traffic congestion following a trailer accident on the outward lane from the Berger area.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, involved a trailer carrying a container that crashed and completely obstructed the outbound carriageway of the busy expressway.

As of the time of this report, the outward-bound lane has been impassable for over an hour, leading to a significant traffic jam stretching from the Berger Bridge, where the trailer overturned, all the way to the Old Toll Gate near the 7Up bottling plant.

In a desperate attempt to navigate the standstill, some motorists have resorted to driving against the flow of traffic on the inbound lane, further exacerbating the congestion in that direction as well.

Emergency response teams were yet to clear the obstruction caused by the fallen trailer and container at the time of filing this report.

Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes if possible and to exercise extreme caution in the affected areas. Updates on the situation will be provided as they become available.
