The Director of the institution’s CBT Centre, Prof. Kamilu Rauf, disclosed this in Ilorin, noting that the figure includes 20,220 UTME applicants and 1,751 Direct Entry candidates.
The screening exercise, which started on August 28, is scheduled to end on September 4.
Compared to the 2024/2025 session, which had 15,946 UTME and 1,175 DE applicants, this year’s numbers reflect a powerful surge of more than 4,700 candidates.
According to Prof. Rauf, the jump highlights Unilorin’s growing reputation as a preferred choice for admission seekers.
He attributed the increase to the university’s strong reputation for academic excellence, its uninterrupted academic calendar, and efficient administration.
“Our slogan is Better by Far. At Unilorin, four years means four years and five years means five years, without disruptions,” he said.
The CBT Director reminded candidates to adhere strictly to the university’s screening guidelines, including dress codes and the ban on mobile phones or gadgets inside examination halls.
