The announcement was made by US Ambassador Richard M. Mills, Jr., during a Wednesday ceremony.
The American Centre will serve as a hub for education, creativity, and professional development.
Ambassador Mills said the centre celebrates American excellence in arts and promotes values that foster hard work, perseverance, and professional growth.
“American Spaces have become trusted venues for young people seeking opportunities to learn about the United States, improve their English, and develop professional skills,” Mills said.
He highlighted educational advising, entrepreneurship training, and digital literacy programs as key offerings for Nigerian youth.
The redesigned centre features upgraded technology, flexible learning spaces, and colourful murals reflecting American history, innovation, and shared democratic values.
Mills noted that the artworks resonate with Nigerian youths, showcasing qualities of determination and achievement.
Lee McManis, Country Public Diplomacy Counsellor, noted that the centre joins 29 other American Spaces across Nigeria, reinforcing people-to-people ties between both countries.
“These Spaces offer a welcoming environment where people can access reliable information, develop new skills, and engage in open dialogue,” he said.
The Embassy said the reopening underscores its commitment to expanding access to educational advising, cultural exchange, and professional capacity-building programs.
