The development marks a crucial step toward a Bundesliga move, coming shortly after AC Milan abruptly withdrew from signing the 24-year-old due to concerns over his history of knee injuries.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the update on X, stating, “Victor Boniface has just completed his medical tests at Werder Bremen.”
Boniface had been close to joining Milan last week before recurring fitness issues scuppered the deal.
The forward, who missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with a muscle injury, has often seen his career disrupted by health setbacks.
Despite returning to training with Bayer Leverkusen, Boniface was left out of the squad in their 3-3 thriller against Bremen over the weekend, intensifying speculation over his exit.
Now, with medicals cleared, Werder Bremen look set to secure the striker’s services in what could be a powerful addition to their attack.
