Rotarian Victor Ojelabi is a creative force in Nigerian media and Rotary leadership. Discover how his bold voice, through Freelanews and humanitarian service, continues to shape conversations and communities in powerful ways.

Rotarian Victor Ojelabi is a trained mass communicator and graduate of Lagos State Polytechnic, with a commanding voice in pop culture, religion, politics, business, and entertainment. Renowned for his fearless writing and unapologetic honesty, he is never afraid to speak truth to power.
He began his professional media journey at Fortune&Class Magazine under the tutelage of respected veteran journalist, Dr Niyi Akinsiju. That early mentorship; as a creative executive and writer, provided the foundation for what has evolved into over a decade-long career in Nigerian media.
Over the years, Rotarian Victor Ojelabi has contributed to numerous high-profile publications including Marketing Edge, Brand Communicator, Global Excellence, M2, and Metronews. Whether authoring articles or developing editorial concepts, his creative touch is evident in stories that continue to shape national conversations.
In recognition of his influence, Victor was awarded Media Personality of the Year in 2024 and went on to emerge as first runner-up at the 2025 ADVAN Africa Awards.
Today, he heads Iretura Limited, a Lagos-based creative and media consultancy that offers services in design, printing, production, public relations, and IT consultancy. His creative direction at Iretura has positioned the company as a strategic media ally for brands and institutions.
Victor is also the founder of TheFLEA Awards and the publisher of Freelanews.com; a digital news platform that has grown steadily since its 2011 launch.
After multiple transitions, Freelanews found its permanent home at www.freelanews.com in 2019. In 2024, the platform was honoured with a Special Appreciation Award by the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce (NACC) for its impactful journalism.
His humanitarian instincts led him to Rotary International, where he joined the Rotary Club of Ikeja-Alausa.
During his tenure, he served in multiple leadership roles, including Chairman of the Art Exhibition Committee.
One of the standout moments was the successful hosting of “Brush Strokes of Hope”, an art exhibition featuring 15 talented artists, including Dr Bolaji Ogunwo and Timi Kakandar, held at RadissonBlu, Ikeja GRA.
Victor was also Secretary-Elect of the club for the 2025/2026 Rotary year, before he resigned to serve as Chairman of the Public Image Committee.
His desire to expand Rotary’s footprint in his local Alimosho community drove him to co-charter the Rotary Club of Ikeja Township alongside Rotarian Ariyike Olukayode.
He now serves as Vice President and President-Elect of the newly formed club.
At the Rotary District 9112 level, Victor is Secretary of the Public Image Committee.
Additionally, he serves as Assistant Editor of the Africa Zone 22 Region 27 Magazine, Rotary’s regional publication, which introduces a bold new approach to storytelling and branding across the African continent.
Throughout his career, Rotarian Victor Ojelabi has remained anchored by his creativity, integrity, and service mindset.
He continues to wield media as a powerful tool for influence and positive change, both within the professional landscape and in communities in need.
