YouthCred launches in Lagos to empower over 400,000 youths with affordable credit and financial knowledge under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda

YouthCred has officially launched in Lagos, marking a major leap in Nigeria’s journey toward youth financial empowerment under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

Held at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Ipaja, Lagos, the unveiling of YouthCred follows an earlier rollout in Abuja.

Designed to provide fair and flexible consumer credit, YouthCred targets over 400,000 young Nigerians—including corps members—with real financial tools to build meaningful futures.

Described as a “revolutionary initiative” by Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, the scheme was unveiled by the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, and the Managing Director of the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP), Engr. Uzoma Nwagba.

“YouthCred is not just for corps members, but for all Nigerian youths,” said Comrade Olawande. “It’s a platform where big ideas and dreams can become reality.”

Engr. Nwagba emphasized that YouthCred is not just a program—it’s a movement set to change how Nigeria’s youth approach money, borrowing, and responsibility.

He hailed President Tinubu’s vision as a catalyst for real empowerment, noting that CREDICORP is committed to cultivating a lasting credit culture in the country.

Also applauding the initiative, Lagos NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, highlighted the government’s growing commitment to youth welfare and thanked the administration for prioritizing corps members’ financial access.
