Zenith Bank partners with USTDA to adopt Microsoft Azure, driving digital transformation and boosting data security and banking efficiency.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has awarded a training grant to Zenith Bank Plc to facilitate the bank’s adoption of Microsoft Azure, a leading hyperscale cloud platform.

The announcement, made via USTDA’s official website on Monday, highlights the grant’s role in enhancing Zenith Bank’s institutional capabilities and digital transformation.

While the specific amount of the grant was not disclosed, the transition to Microsoft Azure is expected to significantly improve Zenith Bank’s data processing and storage capacity.

This advancement will enhance transaction speed, security, and reliability, supporting the bank’s efforts to expand its digital banking services.

USTDA Director Enoh Ebong underscored the importance of the grant, stating, “This initiative demonstrates USTDA’s commitment to deploying cutting-edge U.S. digital infrastructure in partner countries like Nigeria.

It also strengthens U.S. competitiveness in providing secure, sensitive digital infrastructure solutions.”

The grant will support training for Zenith Bank’s senior managers and decision-makers on governance and financial management of cloud services.

Additionally, non-technical training will help personnel at all levels adapt to the new technology through best practices in change management, leadership, and collaboration.

Zenith Bank’s Group Managing Director and Chief Executive, Adaora Umeoji, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, “This collaboration reflects our commitment to leveraging innovative technologies to enhance financial inclusion and operational efficiency. It aligns with our vision of driving sustainable growth across Africa.”

Microsoft Nigeria and Ghana’s General Manager, Olatomiwa Williams, noted the grant’s impact, stating, “USTDA’s support enables us to transform Zenith Bank’s cloud infrastructure using Microsoft Azure, fostering economic growth and protecting data privacy for Nigerian users.”

She also highlighted the initiative’s potential to empower small businesses by granting access to advanced cloud technologies, fostering innovation, and enabling them to compete in the digital economy.

The collaboration between USTDA, Zenith Bank, and Microsoft underscores the importance of strategic investments in digital infrastructure.

By supporting advanced cloud technology adoption, the grant aims to strengthen Nigeria’s financial services sector while promoting U.S. job creation and competitiveness in global markets.
