Preparations are in full swing for the highly anticipated 2023 Mechanical Engineering Distinguished Annual Lecture (MEDL), a prestigious event that promises insightful discourse and meaningful engagement on the role of engineering in Nigeria’s development and employment generation.

The event, scheduled for Monday, November 20, 2023 and organised by the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, NIMechE, will take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, starting at 11:00 AM. It is set to bring together a distinguished audience of professionals, experts, and engineering enthusiasts for a profound exploration of the pivotal role that engineering plays in the country’s progress.
The distinguished Guest Speaker for this occasion is Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State and a notable figure in the field of engineering.
A sitting senator, representing Ijebu East District at the national assembly, Otunba Daniel holds the prestigious titles of FNSE (Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers) and FNIMechE (Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers).
He will address the audience on the topic: “Engineering as a Panacea for Development and Massive Employment Generation in Nigeria.”
The event will be under the distinguished chairmanship of Engr. Tasiu Saad Gidari Wudil, FNSE, the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), who will guide the discussions and proceedings.
Adding further expertise to the event, the Minister of Solid Minerals, Henry Dele Alake, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour, bringing his valuable insights and perspectives to the discourse.
Moreover, Sen. Engr. Patrick C. Ndubueze, MNSE, MNICE, will also grace the occasion as the Guest of Honuor, enriching the discussions with his extensive knowledge and experience in the field of engineering.
