In a bid to address Lagos State’s water scarcity challenges, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu took a bold step at COP28 by rallying international support for long-term funding.

This was made known by the commissioner of Environment and Water Resource, Barr. Tokunbo Wahab, who was on the governor’s team.
He explained that during a side meeting at the UN Climate Summit, Sanwo-Olu highlighted the urgent need for sustainable financing to meet the escalating demand for safe water in the state.
The governor emphasized the critical role that water plays in the daily lives of Lagosians and underscored the importance of finding lasting solutions to the water issue.
The side meeting at COP28 provided a platform for the Governor to engage with global leaders and stakeholders, urging them to join hands in tackling the water crisis.
