Pa Adeife Ifelaja, a 70-year-old farmer in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, was kidnapped in a frightening event. His captors are currently demanding a ransom of N50 million to free him.

Pa Adeife Ifelaja, an elder at a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Ijebu Igbo, was abducted from his residence on the night of December 31, 2023, while he was preparing to attend the Crossover service.

The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the incident and assured that the police are actively engaged in efforts to rescue the victim. “Honestly, the police have been working to get the man rescued. We are on it; even when the kidnappers have been trying to mislead us about their location, we are on their trail and very soon, we shall achieve success,” stated CP Alamutu.

Sources familiar with the situation disclosed that the suspected kidnappers have already reached out to the family, demanding a N50 million ransom for the release of Pa Adeife Ifelaja.

“It is true that Pa Adeife Ifelaja was kidnapped on the night of Sunday, December 31, 2023, while preparing for the Crossover service. I learned the abductors are asking for N50 million, which the family said they do not have,” a source revealed.

The family reportedly engaged in negotiations with the kidnappers, who initially demanded N10 million. However, it is unclear whether any ransom has been paid at this point. The incident has been officially reported to a police station in Ijebu Igbo.

The community is anxiously awaiting the safe return of Pa Adeife Ifelaja, and local authorities, along with the police, are working diligently to ensure his prompt and secure release. The abduction has sparked concerns over the security situation in the region, prompting heightened vigilance among residents.
