The NEMA delegation was welcomed by Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, General Manager of LASWA, and other senior Authority officials. Farinloye Ibrahim, the Agency’s Lagos State Coordinator, and Ajose Sikiru, who oversees the state’s Search-and-Rescue squad, led the NEMA team.

The courteous visit by NEMA leaders aimed to foster goodwill and explore avenues for enhancing cooperation and collaboration between NEMA and LASWA. During the meeting, the two parties discussed various ways to enhance their collaboration.

The possible participation of LASWA in a stakeholders’ meeting, which was intended to bring together delegates from all 36 states of Nigeria, was one of the main subjects of conversation. The purpose of the conference is to learn from LASWA’s effective administration of Lagos’ inland waterway transportation system, with an emphasis on safety protocols and incident avoidance techniques.

Remarkably, via multi-sectoral collaborations, LASWA has forged cooperative efforts with other federal government agencies, including the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The cooperation between NEMA and LASWA demonstrates the two organizations shared dedication to protecting Lagos State’s waterway users’ safety and security. Utilizing such cooperative endeavors, both organizations aim to improve emergency response capacities and reduce hazards related to water transportation.
