The Ebonyi State command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the abduction of two of its personnel by gunmen along the Abakaliki-Enugu federal highway. According to Sector Commander Henry Igwe, the incident occurred on March 8 while the personnel were returning to Enugu after completing their duties at the corps’ Nkalagu office.
Igwe informed reporters that the families of the abducted personnel reported that they did not arrive home as expected. Contact was subsequently made with the families, revealing that they had been contacted by individuals claiming to be kidnappers and demanding ransom. Igwe emphasized that negotiations are ongoing between the families and the kidnappers, with the organization offering support within its capacity.
