The Association of Juju Musicians of Nigeria (AJUMN), Lagos State Chapter also known as AJUMN Eko wishes to clarify its stance on the recent demand by the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) for performance levies from Lagos based Juju Musicians.

AJUMN categorically rejects PMAN’s demand for performance levies, asserting that our members are not compelled to pay such fees. We firmly believe that the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria (MCSN) is the sole body authorized to collect any levies related to composers, lyricists, performers, producers, publishers and all are remunerated when their works are used in public.

It is essential to emphasize that AJUMN members have diligently abided by the regulations set forth by MCSN, which has been duly recognized as the legitimate authority for collecting levies.

As an organization dedicated to promoting and protecting the interests of Juju musicians across Nigeria, AJUMN remains committed to ensuring that all Lagos State Juju Musicians are not subjected to unjust demands or confusion regarding their obligations.

Furthermore, we urge PMAN to respect the existing structures and procedures within the music industry, and refrain from making demands that fall outside their jurisdiction.

AJUMN stands united in its resolve to uphold the rights of Juju musicians in Lagos State and maintain transparency and fairness within the industry. We encourage all stakeholders to collaborate constructively in advancing the Nigerian music scene
