Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has broken his silence on why he did not attend the burial of his late colleague, Junior Pope.

Edochie attributed the development to backstabbing by the late movie producer.

The self-acclaimed pastor took to his social media page on Tuesday, recounting his lack of involvement in the burial ceremony of the late actor, saying that he betrayed him multiple times.

He noted that he needed to explain himself because people were curious about his absence at the burial despite admitting that the Pope was like a brother to him.

Although he did not provide details about what had transpired between them, he promised to provide more information about how he had betrayed him.

He wrote, “I didn’t want to say anything till after his burial. I know many asked why I wasn’t there. Why I haven’t said anything about it since.

“I took him like a brother and good friend. I was there for him when he needed me. But he stabbed me in the back, repeatedly. That’s life!

Edochie, however, told his followers to be wary of what they wished for people because their wishes could come back to hunt them.

“I’ll drop the full details soon so others can learn from it. Be careful what you wish people, it could come to you,” he added.

However, his post has been greeted by condemnation by Nigerians, as many expressed their dissatisfaction with it.

Others questioned his sanctimonious nature, especially because he had earlier declared himself a pastor.

Reacting, one user who identifies as Atuanya Chigozie on Instagram said, “@yuledochie, my brother, you have to let go of all that… One needs to move forward in life and forget the past. We pray for progression and long life. So bro, forget about all that…. no need bro.”

Bee Signature said, “Hmmmmmm what’s dis man’s offence please. The hate is too much.”

“How do you talk about not posting anything regarding his death or attending his funeral because you’re not in good terms with him? How? Unfollowing you asap, your heart is too dark,” Official Salma queried.

Another user, who identifies as Ben Kingsley said, “I thought you’re a pastor. What happened to forgiveness?”

Urazie Maureen opined., “Sir Yul, even in death, you’re still holding grudges, yet you want your wife to forgive you.”

Meanwhile, Jenidope noted, “I wonder how May managed to stay with this guy over the years.”

Original Lady Chidi asked, “Your wife you betrayed nkor…..you can’t take what you dish…Go and sit down.”

On January 29, Edochie launched his online ministry and conducted the inaugural church service on his YouTube channel, True Salvation Ministry.

During the virtual gathering, Yul delved into his spiritual journey, sharing his divine calling and the moment he felt God’s direct guidance. Reflecting on instances where others recognized his potential for ministry, he revealed that a life-altering car accident on the Ore road was the turning point that led him to embrace his calling fully.

Following a narrow escape from a fatal outcome, Yul described a transformative experience where a compelling voice urged him to dedicate his life to serving God and humanity. This revelation marked the beginning of his “second life,” distinct from his previous pursuits.
