APC Campaign Director Kassim Afegbua rejects Governor Obaseki’s claim that his fallout with Oshiomhole was due to Tony Anenih’s state burial, calling it political manipulation.
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Media Director of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, Kassim Afegbua, has criticised Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki’s claim that his fallout with former governor Adams Oshiomhole was caused by a state burial organised for late ex-Minister of Works, Tony Anenih.
Obaseki stated during a campaign rally that Oshiomhole opposed the burial because Anenih was not an elected official. However, Afegbua, a former commissioner under Oshiomhole, dismissed this claim as an attempt by Obaseki to score political points.

In a statement on Sunday, Afegbua stressed that the political differences between Obaseki and Oshiomhole started long before Anenih’s death in 2018.
He recounted efforts by prominent figures such as Aliko Dangote to reconcile the two politicians in early 2018.
According to Afegbua, Obaseki expressed a desire to “be his own man” and made ethnic and personal remarks about Oshiomhole, signalling the real cause of their rift.
Afegbua noted that Obaseki’s claims were unfounded, as Anenih’s death occurred nearly a year after their differences began. He accused Obaseki of attempting to exploit the late Anenih’s death for political gain.
The APC campaign director further questioned Obaseki’s leadership and intentions, describing his actions as opportunistic and disrespectful.
