A shocking incident involving the alleged extortion of ₦1 million from three corps members by police officers in Surulere has surfaced on social media.
The claim was made by Twitter user Olúyẹmí Fásípè (@yemiefash), who detailed how the corps members were reportedly threatened with firearms, kidnapped, and taken to Kafaru Oluwole Tinubu House at the Area C Police Command.
According to Fásípè’s post, the officers allegedly targeted the corps members for not carrying a physical copy of their driver’s licence.

After detaining them, the officers demanded ₦1 million, which was forcibly collected by an officer in mufti, allegedly under the orders of his superior.
In his tweet, Fásípè shared transaction receipts and a voice note from one of the victims detailing the extortion.
He tagged prominent figures, including Lagos Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin, urging them to address the matter.
The incident, which has gained significant attention online, raises concerns over police misconduct and the safety of Nigerian citizens.
Hundeyin and the Lagos State Police Command have promised to investigate the claims and ensure justice is served.
