The Oro Kingdom in Kwara State has officially welcomed a new era with the appointment of His Royal Highness, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye, as the Oloro of Oro Kingdom.

The Oloro-in-Council confirmed the selection, which adhered to the Kingdom’s age-old traditional rites and procedures, in a statement signed by its leaders and made available to journalists in Ilorin.

The statement, jointly signed by prominent chiefs of Oro Kingdom, including the Eesa of Oro Kingdom, High Chief Samuel Taiye Bamgboye, and the Asooni of Oro Kingdom, High Chief Muhammed Atoyebi Adewole, reassured the public of the integrity of the selection process. The council emphasised that every step was conducted with transparency and diligence, ensuring that all traditional protocols were meticulously observed.

The Oloro-in-Council urged the public to dismiss rumours or misinformation circulated by a small opposition group, reaffirming that the new king’s appointment reflects the collective will of the people of Oro Kingdom. The council cited the overwhelming reception Oba Joel Oyatoye received at Aafin Oro as proof of his popularity. A jubilant crowd gathered to celebrate his ascension, symbolising the optimism and unity surrounding his reign.

Acknowledging the possibility of dissent in such processes, the council appealed to all residents to put aside differences and rally behind the new monarch. “What is most urgent now is to prioritise our common interests over personal agendas and uphold the values that strengthen our community,” the council stated.

The Oloro-in-Council also expressed gratitude to Kwara State Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his neutrality during the selection process. They praised his administration for its integrity and respect for Oro Kingdom’s traditions, which ensured a peaceful and transparent transition.

Oba Joel Oyatoye’s reign heralds a new chapter for Oro Kingdom, with hopes high for unity, prosperity, and cultural preservation under his leadership.
